To be honest the inspiration and motivation to blog as quite left me these past months, so I have a few pictures I never posted like this stuff I got for my birthday.

I’m currently quite excited for tomorrow because I had nothing planned for NYE until 1 hour ago when Caro told me she would be home on time to come go downtown with me. I hope for a lot of dancing and pictures, fun and also warmth (please). Happy new year to you all. May this year be better than the last one, funnier and, can I make smarter decisions also? Thanks 2015.

You are what you love, my 17th birthday

On November 12 I turned seventeen. One year until I am officially an adult, but I get the feeling there won’t be a turning point where everything will be clear for me on how to act “adult-like”. Pretty sure now that even grown-ups are faking it. Still, next year will be more notably the start of cegep, which is exciting, the year I get my driver’s license (I’m a little late on that, it’s scheduled late January) and I am also planning out my summer, thinking about going as an au pair. I’m happy to be at this point, but it’s also a certain pressure when I think of my ten-years-old self, I was spending a lot of time thinking how I would turn out as a teenager, of all the things I would be doing and I became something else. I’m insecure about it; dealing with self-doubt is hard when you’ve just changed school because there’s a compulsion to act like someone else with these new people. The thing is, you are who you are, or as Laverne Cox said, you are what you love. And that’s not going away because it scares you or stoop people at school say you have “cheesy taste” (hum.. hum.). It’s ironic to read articles that tell you you’re the best, because it’s addressing everyone and not everyone can be "the best", but you have to think a little selfishly on that bit and trust that you ARE that good. Grosso modo: you’re awesome and everyone else is literal trash. That’s all the wisdom I have to serve today, now let’s see what I was up to on my birthday (see that, I’m being selfish just as I said to do):

On my birthday I went to get a haircut, and baby, the bangs are back!! I also ate doughnuts, went to see ROOM (my mom and me cried like idiots) and then we had a family dinner with Nico.

 Saturday, my friends where coming over. I had this idea to make my dining room feel like a nice restaurant so I hung up tons of Christmas lights.

 Gus was obviously in charge of the security and any food falling on the ground.

 Morgie was there, telling us some school theater's gossips.

 We ate burgers with fries and milkshakes.

 Then we played some board games, I forgot to get a picture of my team with Sophie (we were called Bay in honor of switched at birth).

 Charlo was included with the Asian supreme for some reason...

 The Moriarty won and they won’t be allowed to team up next time. Seriously those two girls are too good/evil when they get together.

 And when everyone left, Caro and I cleaned up while listening to Miley and her Dead Petz. Such a nice night, it made me realised I do have the group of friends I pictured when I was 10. Funny, creative, smart and cute as hell.

Crème glacée limonade sucrée | décoration de gâteaux

Bonjour tout le monde! Re-bienvenue sur mon blogue, pour repartir du bon pied après cette petite absence maladie, quelques idées pour décorer cupcakes et gâteaux :
Hello friends! Welcome back on my blog, to restart things after this small sick leave I have a few cake decorations ideas:

Je crois qu’une bonne liste de lecture est un élément primordial, car c’est à la portée de tous de réussir des gâteaux dignes de Pinterest, mais il faut en avoir la patience! Et la musique rend tout plus agréable.

I think a good playlist is primordial to any baking because anyone can make a Pinterest worthy cake but you need the patience. Music makes everything better.

Ensuite, ma mère avait préalablement cuit et réfrigéré les gâteaux, ils étaient donc à la température idéale pour le crémage, que nous avions choisi de faire menthe (mais il a tourné turquoise) pour les 40 ans de ma tante.

After that, my mom had already baked and refrigerated the cakes so they were at the perfect temperature for the icing, which we chose to make mint (turned out more turquoise) for my aunt 40th birthday.

Truc pour glacer son gâteau : passer régulièrement votre couteau sous l’eau chaude de manière à le rendre propre et à faire légèrement fondre le glaçage et à le rendre lisse.

Icing trick: Pass your knife regularly under hot water to keep it clean and to slightly melt the icing for a smooth result.

Puis, en tant que responsable du fondant, j’ai préparé mes couleurs avec un colorant alimentaire spécialement pour la pâtisserie. Ne vous laissez pas intimider par le mot fondant, pensez-y comme une pâte à modeler comestible (même si on a tous goûté celle qui ne se mange pas). Le plus délicat c’est de la garder à la bonne température pour qu’elle soit malléable, mais pas collante, je l’ai donc re-réfrigéré quelques fois en cours de route.

Then, as the official fondant manager, I prepared my colors with a pastry coloring. Don’t be intimidated by “fondant”, think of it like eatable Play Doh (even though we all ate Play Doh). The trickiest thing is to keep it at the good temperature for it to be mouldable but not sticky; you may have to put it back to the fridge.

Voici ma déco melon d’eau, vraiment facile! Si vous voulez rajouter des confettis de sucre, mettez un peu d’eau préalablement pour mieux les coller.

Here my watermelon deco, super easy! If you want to add sugar sprinkles, wet the fondant a little beforehand to help it stick.

My 60' themed sweet 16

This post is reaallly cool coz like (ok I’m stopping this accent), first, it’s about parties and you know I love to organize parties and also because it’s in collaboration with Lisa-Estrella from A positive Beauty blog! Be sure to check out her blog full of beautiful nail art designs (she even won Sally Hensen’s #iheartnailart contest!!! :O).

Ce billet va être vraiiiiiiment sensasss parce que (ok… j’arrête de niaiser), premièrement, c’est à propos de party et j’adore organiser des fêtes et deuxièmement, car c’est une collaboration avec Lisa-Estrella du blogue A Positive Beauty! N’oubliez pas de jeter un coup d’œil à son site où elle présente ses super beaux design nail art (elle a même gagné le concours #iheartnailart de Sally Hensen!!!)

So what a better way to blow your (more or less) 16 candles than with a 60’ themed birthday party? I know that’s what I thought and here are the things that will make this night a success:

Y a t’il une meilleure façon de souffler vos (plus ou moins) seize bougies qu’avec un anniversaire des années soixante? Et bien c’est ce que je crois! Voici les détails qui feront de cette soirée un succès :

The Outfit 

In your invitation, indicate clearly to your guess that they have to be dressed up in the theme. If they have a little lack of inspo, you could link them a board like this one on Pinterest or length them something of yours. It’s really fun when everyone makes an effort (especially you because it’s YOUR night!!)

Dans votre invitation, indiquez clairement à vos invités qu’ils doivent s’habiller selon le thème. Si quelques-uns manquent d’inspiration, envoyez-leur le lien à un tableau comme celui-ci sur Pinterest ou vous pourriez leur prêter un morceau. C’est vraiment amusant quand tout le monde se donne à fond (surtout vous, car c’est VOTRE soirée)

The Decor

For the decor, most of my things are from Oh Joy! From target (which always make great stuff, see this other party with their supplies). Easy elements to add are a record player or any 60’ artefacts like mod vases, posters or toys. I also made this garland myself (DIY on the way) to dress up the empty wall.

Pour les décorations, la plupart des éléments sont de Oh Joy! en vente chez Target (cette marque fait toujours de belles choses, voyez cette autre fête avec leurs décos). Pour donnez le ton facilement, ajoutez des éléments iconiques des années soixante comme une table tournante, des vases mod, des affiches ... J’ai aussi fait cette guirlande moi-même (DIY à venir) pour habiller ce mur.

The Music

Prepare a playlist with a mix of your favorite songs and ones from the sixties (mine included: Rolling Stones, Buddy Holly, The Marvelettes, The Beatles, The Zombies, Simon & Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, The Animals, The Velvet Underground, The Turtles, Donovan...). I like to alter old and new or else I feel like the same song goes on from beginning to end.

Préparez une liste de lecture avec un mix de vos chansons actuelles préférées et des chansons des sixties (la mienne incluait: Rolling Stones, Buddy Holly, The Marvelettes, The Beatles, The Zombies, Simon & Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell, The Animals, The Velvet Underground, The Turtles, Donovan et ainsi de suite) Je préfère alterner le vieux et le récent sinon j’ai l’impression que la même chanson joue en boucle.

The “Fun Time”

Though just chatting is always great, you might need to break the ice when all your guesses don’t know each other’s. I prepared some conversation starters questions on little cards that worked pretty well. We also had an impromptu photo shoot with the balloons and finished the night playing Rock Ban. We would definitely make a cook all-girl punk band.

Même si bavarder est toujours amusant, vous aller peut-être devoir briser la glace si vos invités ne se connaissent pas tous. J’avais préparé des cartes avec des questions qui ont bien fonctionné. On a aussi fait un photo shoot impromptu avec les ballons et la soirée c’est fini à jouer à Rock Ban. On devrait définitivement se créer un groupe punk!

The Souvenirs

A cool souvenir for your friends is to give a surprise bag. I know it might sound childish but all my friends came to school with temporary tattoos the next day. I went to the dollar store and target to find cute cheap stuff. As a souvenir for yourself, document the night with a Polaroid-type device like Fujifilm. I borrowed this one from my friend and now I can hang the pictures in my room.

Je sais que ça sonne bébé, mais un sac à surprise est un bon souvenir de la soirée à donner à vos invités. Mes amies se sont toutes pointées avec des tatouages temporaires aujourd’hui! Et comme souvenir pour vous-même, documentez la soirée avec un appareil de type Polaroid comme un Fujifilm. J’ai emprunté celui-ci à mon ami et je peux maintenant exposer les photos dans ma chambre.
